I'm not one to follow trends...

Different kinds of prints have been sprouting in the past couple of years but never have I found myself actually liking one until Aztec/Tribal prints came.

I know that these kinds of prints have been around in the past. I should know, we use a red tribal print table accent for our center table every Christmas. But it is only now that Aztec prints are considered fashionable so I am just taking notice of these festive and colorful prints now.

I think that it's the symmetry and how everything looks all balanced out all the time that made me like them. Ironically, though, that I am so fond of these prints but I own nothing that has Aztec prints on them. That only means one thing: Online shopping (again) it is!

It's a go!

Since I have a very responsible sister...

We're registered for Outbreak Manila already! Wooh! I know that this isn't really an official marathon/fun run of sorts but I know that it's fun and everyone will be running. We will be running the 11:30pm wave which means there's enough time for us to hangout before and after Outbreak. Wooh! I am so excited.

What's even more exciting is Isabelle Daza, Anne Curtis and Georgina Wilson will be running, too. I just don't know what wave they are in but the idea of actually (maybe) meeting them in person is adding up to my anticipation of the event. I mean, I'm all googly eyes whenever I see Georgina Wilson anywhere (except in person) and I am an Anne Curtis fan (I am not afraid to say it) so meeting - or just seeing - them in person will definitely be a highlight of my life. Okay, so I've seen Anne Curtis in St. Paul a lot before since Jasmine Curtis used to be batchmates with my sister there but I just want to see her in person again, okay?

Going back, I'd want to dress up as something for Outbreak Manila but I still don't know what because I am not exactly someone who can actually pull off a costume... Hmmm...

Look-alike.

I don't know if they (meaning I forced them to) just watched a lot of G-mik back in the day or if it's true but they kept on telling me I looked like Camille Prats then. Do I? And more importantly, do I still look like her now? Because I find her pretty now...

Online store.

I am currently getting rid of some of the clutter in our room and I've found some things that we don't/won't use anymore and I've decided to sell them all online. If you are looking for super cheap breastmilk bags, running shoes and everything in between, I suggest you visit my online shop:

http://jellybeanness.multiply.com/
Just don't expect too much from it because everything is secondhand or just given to me that I don't use and will not use. It's nothing special, really.

Me Time.

Ever since Brianna came to my life, I've changed a couple of the routines that I do on a day-to-day basis. The one that has probably changed a lot since the baby came is "Me Time" and I am sure that all of us will agree on this one.

Me Time has not only been changed but I also had to reduce it because I now need more sleep than I needed before. Anyway, Me Time consist of the following now:

A friend of mine told me that I should be taking a break every once in a while. Visit the salon, have a coffee or any other activity that requires me to leave the house but I get all guilty even just by thinking about it.

Is anyone else having the same problem as I do or is there anyone who have experienced it before? How are you handling it? How did you handle it?

As Told By Ginger?

So I've downloaded the entire As Told By Ginger series to my laptop and it has been there for quite a while now because I downloaded Hey Arnold, too, and watched that one first.

Anyway, I just started watching As Told By Ginger last night and I got the shock of my life when I saw the very first episode. Why? Because the characters I grew to love watching on Nickelodeon looked far too different. For those who don't know how they look like in the episodes that aired in Nickelodeon, well, here they are:

Now, imagine my horror when I saw the first appearance of Ginger Foutley and the gang in Nickelodeon. No, not the episode posted above. It's numbered as s00ep00 and they looked like these:

So apparently, the very first version of Ginger looked like this. She looks a lot like her mom.
Dodie Bishop doesn't look like she underwent too much change but the hair bothers me.
Blake Gripling looks nothing like the one from the series that aired after this episode.
Darren Patterson looked like he's a really pale gothic kid which is weird because he's supposed to just be a light African-American.
My biggest surprise came when I saw Miranda. Miranda Killgallen was white! In the series I watched, she's a really light African-American. Plus, her face here is long and thin while in the series, her head was more like an oblong. Courtney Gripling looks different, too, but I sorta imagined her to look like this when she grew up so it didn't come as a surprise.

Anyway, this articular episode looked like the artists of Aaah! Real Monsters and the older episodes of Rugrats worked to make this episode happen. I think I was just staring the whole time I was watching the episode because I had to watch it again to finally understand it.

I love As Told By Ginger because I think that this particular series touches on sensitive issues teens/kids go through that other cartoons didn't: Death, bullying, love heartbreaks and other issues. It's Hey Arnold for teeny boppers.

King of the Jungle

The reason why I am looking for lion stuff online since last week is because my cousins will be playing at the concert recital of Yamaha in 19 East on July 1 and this is the look that I'd want to achieve:

King of the Jungle
King of the Jungle by aletotski featuring short shorts

Of course, I don't own such a pair of boots so I might end up wearing a pair of sneakers but still, I want to achieve the look.

The Lion craze.

I am currently looking for these lion stuff and it's not because of Bry, okay? I just find these pieces really cool and I know that these will definitely look good with a couple of stuff I bought online.

This is a ring I saw on eBay and the seller is a Filipino but she didn't reply to the text messages I sent to her two mobile numbers posted and to the inquiry I left her mailbox. Long story short, the bidding ended and I didn't even get a chance to know if this one's adjustable or not. Ugh. I'm so bitter about this. :|

This H&M necklace has been in my watch list since last year. I was supposed to ask my brother's girlfriend, Peng, to get me one when she went to Singapore a few weeks ago but alas, I completely forgot about it and remembered a day after she got back. Smart.

After 11 years...

I have been drinking alcohol for 11 years now and can I just say that I just realized last night how my body reacts to beer. Well, that's actually not that surprising if you think about it because I never drank beer before I got pregnant except for certain situations (e.g. officemate's birthday celebrations and nightouts with my former officemates...sila lang mahilig mag-beer, okay?). Now that I have to transition from hard liquor to beer because of alcohol content in my breastmilk (yes, I am allowed to drink), I've just figured out how I react to beer.

A bottle of beer gives me a headache. I learned this while I was on one of my emo moments at home and I wanted to drink a bottle of beer because I just wanted to take a break from work and from mommyhood and I gave myself exactly 30 minutes to finish the bottle. Long story short, I took a longer break from both because my head was throbbing like crazy. One bottle? Never again.

2-3 bottles of beer is the exact amount for me (as of now). I've been jamming with my dad and Bry the past few weekends and this is just enough for me to talk to them rationally and for me to wake up early the next morning for an hour of running.

4 bottles are just enough to put me in a deep sleep. Exhibit A: Me, last night.

5 bottles and up will make you regret you asked me to drink in the first place. It's puke-palooza for me and you might as well take me to the hospital because I'd be spewing out like a volcano and my head will hurt like hell for two days and my stomach will feel like there's hairball inside it and I will be asking for a lot of tea and soda...

Anyway, that's my analysis for now. I know that the more I drink, the better the numbers will be... The first one, though, will remain constant. I know that for a fact kasi kahit sa hard ganyan ako e.

Outbreak Manila 2

Since I didn't get to run the first one in Nuvali and I want a follow through to my first ever fun run, I am fully dedicated to run the Outbreak Manila 2 that is going to be held on July 28 at the Bonifacio Global City.

The first time I've heard of the Zombie Run was from my cousin, when he invited me to run it earlier in the year but we didn't get to register for the Nuvali run because we completely forgot about it but now, I am doing the proactive thing of posting about the race here and by actually posting a note on my desktop:

So, what's the difference between Outbreak Manila 2 and the first one? Well, for starters, the first race was held in Nuvali in Laguna and this second race is more accessible for commuting Manilenos because of the Bonifacio Global City venue. The wide open space in BGC will provide as running grounds for the zombies and the runners.

The waves in the Outbreak Manila - Nuvali (ironic, right?) ran so early in the morning while the upcoming zombie run will take place in the evening, giving everyone the perfect zombie apocalypse feel. It's creepier because it will be harder for the runners to know where the zombies will be coming from, making it all the more exciting (I can feel my adrenaline rushing by just typing that line). Race wave schedules are as follows:

The mechanics are basically the same: You're gonna be handed three flags that represent your health. The zombies will be getting these from you while you run so be mindful of them. Of course, hiding them from the zombies is not allowed. There will be marshalls that will be present at the venue and the race track to watch out for runners who don't follow this rule.

The goal is to get out of the race alive and with at least one flag attached to your body to be eligible to get prizes. I am now thinking of ways that will help me with this. I don't think there's a way around the flags-on-the-right-side-of-your-hip rule but as they all say, if there's a will, there's a way.

There will be two courses, the easy one that's longer but with fewer zombies and the horde one with more zombies but is shorter. I, personally, would choose the easy way just because it's my first time but it will depend on what my cousins and I decide upon.

For the first 3 male and first 3 female runners to reach the finish line for both ways will win cash prizes and Apple products. How great is that, huh? Pero asa pako, I probably won't make it to the top 20 even if I wanted to.

Registrations for Outbreak Manila 2 in Bonifacio Global City will open on June 22 and will close on July 22 or until all slots are filled up, whichever comes first and that is the reason why I am registering on June 22 already. Yes, excited ako. Bakit ba? Registration centers are at:

TOBY'S SPORTS
Megamall
Mall of Asia
The Block

RUNNR
Alabang Town Center
Bonifacio High Street

There is a downloadable form available online that you can print out to make things easier for you during the registration. Just pass this form to any of the registration centers named above and pay Php800 for a race kit that includes a Manila Outbreak souvenir shirt, your race bib, the flag belt and some freebies from the sponsors. There's a zombie registration, too, for zombies who want to join the fun

Ano? Tara? Let's run the Outbreak Manila 2 in Bonifacio Global City on July 28, 2012! Practice narin 'to for the real zombie apocalypse that seems to be highly probable now. *praning*

WELCOME HATERS!

This comment is published here.

These kinds of people actually amuse me. It gives me the impression that the things I blab about are actually important. I don't find them gutsy enough, though, because they can't take responsibility with what they say by remaining anonymous. I am not trying to pick a fight here, Mr./Ms. Anonymous. I am just voicing out what I want to say. I don't need to explain to anyone, really, but I just want to explain it to people who need to widen their minds a bit.

Anyway, if you want to know what my response is:
It would also be polite if you respect other's opinions and the fact that not everyone shares the same opinions you have...and if you didn't call other people you don't know names. You can voice out opinions without being rude to other people. Pag lumulutang ka na sa lupa habang naglalakad, maybe then you can actually start calling other people "maleducated stupid fuck". Have a great day and good luck going through life with that negativity in your heart.
I don't need to level with you, Mr./Ms. Anonymous, to get my point across. If you are as smart as you think you are, you should understand.

Yay haters! I feel so important! Teehee.

#56. I prefer older men than younger guys. Someone the same age as me, depends. I'm a fast learner. Teacher? Not so much...if you know what I mean.

My take on tattoos on men:

I love tattoos on men as much as the next girl but the legs are where I draw the line.

Mommy Boobs.

I was never really proud of my boobs in the past. If anything, I think that they're the reason why I've had poor posture for the better part of my high school years. Come college, I realized how gifted I was and I've become confident and I have learned to flaunt what I've got without attracting negative attention to my "babies".

But now that I am a mom - a BREASTFEEDING mom at that - I am having a hard time, once again, with how my boobs look like. If you want to know how they look, well, that's kind of weird but here's a photo:

I want for them to look perky again but at the same time, not attract unwanted attention. It will also be great if the bras are comfortable enough for a nursing mom to wear, easy enough for me to access when I need to feed my baby and fashionable enough for me to wear them under whatever clothes I choose to wear, daytime or night time.

Another thing: if there's such a bra that helps you with your posture, that is going to be great, too. I mean, look at me. I seem to have gone back to my high school self-esteem with the way I stand. I am not, in any way, conscious about how "bigger" and saggier they've become. It's just that they became too "heavy" for my poor back to handle.

Wacoal has great kinds of bras that I can choose from and when I browsed through their website, I've seen some that fit all the requirements I want my bras to have.

This particular bra will most probably give the support my breasts need. Plus points for it being a sports bra because it will be able to help me perfectly with my goal for this year.

A maternity bra is still part of my wishlist because it seems that I still haven't found the perfect pair since I've given birth. I love this particular maternity bra because of its youthful design and it will provide great support to a breastfeeding mom.

All in all, I am really happy with how things turned out but I would love to be proactive with the things that I choose to change and I know that Wacoal will be able to help me with this small dilemma I have when it comes to underwear. For more information about their products, you can visit their website at http://www.wacoal.ph.

Imported.

I do not know if it's just me and my crazy thinking that imported food tastes better (just 'cause I am not used to the taste of their food) but this particular beer was yummier than San Mig Light plus I didn't get hungover after drinking a couple of bottles of Corona even if I haven't eaten anything yet. I love this and the other German brand that I don't have a picture of. If only they were as cheap as San Miguel beers...

One Race. One Family. One La Salle 3 (OROFOLS3) Race Results

I've just seen the race results for yesterday's One Race. One Family. One La Salle 3 fun run. Here are our results:

The time on the right one is the official time while the one on the left is the total chip time.

For people who didn't train for the race and who jogged for the better part of the race (teehee!), I think we did good time. I mean the last person to finish 3k finished it in an hour, 55 minutes.

Race results can be seen here: http://strider.ph/events/25/. The winners were really fast, though.

Now, where to find the official event photos...

First ever outfit shot.

This will be the first time that I will be posting an outfit post but it's not mine. It's Brianna's. After I ran at the OROFOLS event by the De La Salle Alumni Association, we went to S&R in The Fort and this is what Brianna wore:

White top with silver flowers from Little Miss

Royal blue jeggings from Moose Girl

Dora the Explorer sandals from SM Character Shop

I love the Dora the Explorer sandals that my mom bought for Brianna. It's light but it actually is heavy duty plus it's really soft on the feet that it actually feels like it's a pair of Havaiannas. This is the perfect pair of slippers for Brianna. It won't hurt that much if she wears it out because it is not pricey.

The Moose Girl royal blue jeggings was an impulsive purchase. I was actually looking for a birthday gift for our cousin but I ended up grabbing this uber cute pair of jeggings for Brianna. It's really light so Brianna doesn't have a hard time walking while wearing it. Plus it is thin so she can wear it outside even if the sun is scorching hot.

She looks really chic with this, I would have to say. She looks fashionable without looking older than her actual age. I just wish she isn't uncomfortable wearing headbands because I have one in her closet that will look really good with this ensemble.

One Run, One Family, One La Salle 3 (OROFOLS3): Running Towards the Next 100 Years

In line with one of my goals this year, I ran the One Run, One Family, One La Salle 3 (OROFOLS3): Running Towards the Next 100 Years fun run at the SM Mall of Asia this morning. I know I had my goal set to 5k but I registered too late so the slots for the 5k run has run out when I arrived at the Alumni office last Wednesday morning so I settled with 3k because there's no way in hell I am running 10km without any training.

Anyway, I ran with Trish this morning and we were laughing the entire waiting time because of Albie Casino and the students who were in the venue who were wearing their singlets but were wearing a pair of denim shorts and Chuck Taylors. I am not being mean but who runs with those, right? It just makes it obvious that their classes just require them to be in the event (DLSU and CSB froshies who have PE classes this term were required to attend the event) and that is the sole reason that they are there.

In all fairness with Trish, she actually ran and she loved doing it because her body surprised her (and me) by craving for more physical exercises after the run. Our bodies, though, have different reactions to the run. After we've cooled down, Trish had the strong urge to rest while I was so hyper that I was talking non-stop and I even wanted to go malling after.

All in all, my first official fun run which took too long to happen was a great experience, especially that it has something to do with my Alma Mater. I think I just waited for One Run, One Family, One La Salle 3: Running Towards the Next 100 Years to happen for me to actually join a running event. I mean, what greater way to start a healthier lifestyle than with a community I love being a part of right? Now that my back is sore and my legs feel tired, I think I am going to make this running thing a daily thing. I want to completely run my next fun run and I want it to be 5 kilometers long this time.

I have the biggest hair among all the people I know (personally).

I am the only person I know that has this big, unruly hair. I don't even know what happened because when I was a baby, I looked like this:

A lot of people thought I was a baby boy because of how light my hair was. My lifelong yaya, Ate Thelma, told me that she would put gata on my hair every once in a while to make it thicker and now, I blame her for this mess:

Photo by Brianna. This is the only photo I have of my hair because I don't take photos of it really when it's all kinky.
Well, it's not entirely the gata's fault because I had my hair relaxed twice and a lot of hairstylists have been reprimanding me throughout the years about it so I guess that - plus that time I had my hair colored in college - made more damage than the gata.

Anyway, yesterday was the last straw and I thought that I needed to do something about it so I went to my mom's bathroom and went snooping around for her hot oil/moisturizer thingy but I ended up using this:

The decision to use this has got to do with that short span of time in high school before I had my hair relaxed where I couldn't take the unruliness of my hair. I used this every morning before I took a bath. I did that again and then this happened:

I'm sorry for the face. I didn't know what face to do because I was inside the freaking bathroom.
I HAVE FOUND THE CHEAPER OPTION! Wooh! I was convinced that I needed to have my hair rebonded but I love how my hair looks healthy now and best of all, BAGSAK NA SIYA! My hair doesn't look like some feather duster anymore! I did it again today and will continue doing it if it makes my hair look like this without the help of a flat iron.

Man, this post is overworked but really, really shallow.

Life is simple.

Trip to the ol' Alma Mater.

I went back to DLSU this morning to register for the Animo Run - yes, I am trying to live a healthy life...TRYING TO - and to renew my alumni ID that has been expired since October last year. To tell you honestly though, I don't know what other uses my alumni ID have besides a free, no-hassle pass into the university and free Chimichangas in Burgoo but I had it renewed anyway. (Dear La Sallians, if you are not a frequent visitor of your school and you don't use/need discounts, renewing your ID is not worth it. Five hundred freakin' pesos for it and it's valid only for a year... Tsktsk.)

My sister accompanied me the whole morning (Thanks, sis!) and she never complained about walking from UM to Agno only to go back to the South Gate again. Anyway, there are some huge changes in DLSU that weren't there the last time I visited:
  1. DI NA PWEDE MAGYOSI SA AGNO. Okay, it's one thing to make it look like the way it looks like now, it's another to make it smoke-free. Nakakalungkot isipin but my college life was kinda ruined by this development. I WANT THE OLD AGNO BACK! Yung masikip! Yung maputik! Yung may masarap na liempo at bacsilog!
  2. Archer's Lair? It's called Green Lane now and may Chicboy at Starbucks na dun.
  3. Microsmith and Red Spoon are now closed. This is a sad, sad day indeed.
and the greatest change I've seen?

The Henry Sy building.
Wanna know what's weird about this building? It's blue.

Anyway, I missed hanging out at the the old Amphitheater. At least this one hasn't gone any changes... Well, actually there is. The turtles aren't there anymore but I kinda expected that because when Ondoy happened, I heard they swam away to some sewer or something.

My favorite view in the Amphitheater.
I had this thought, though, that the crowd changed drastically because of all the fashyown changes that's been happening everywhere but surprisingly, the La Sallians stuck to the jeans-shirt-sneaks combo.

I WANT TO GO BACK TO COLLEGE! Alam mo yung papasok ka para tumambay, iinom before/after/during classes/retreat, maglalandi sa mga classmates kahit may boyfriend, magccut ng class para manood ng NBA sa McDo at mahuli ng prof mo... Yun. Lahat yun gusto kong balikan...

Confusion is nothing new.

If you know me, you will know that I am not that much into music. I listen to HipHop, RnB, Slow Jams, yes, but a part of me doesn't really consider that music. No offense meant to those people who work around that musical genre but whenever I hear the word "music", those are not the genres that pop into my head.

Anyway, just this morning, I woke up to the thought of "I should get a copy of Imago's old album as well as Moonstar 88's." I don't know where that thought came from but now that it's there, I would love to make a list of OPM artists/bands' albums I would love to get my hands on:
  1. The whole discography of Imago
  2. The whole discography of Moonstar 88
  3. The whole discography of Rivermaya
  4. The whole discography of Eraserheads
  5. The whole discography of Up Dharma Down
  6. The whole discography of Mojofly
Looking at my list now, I don't think I have a diverse taste in music. They all sound alike.

Would also love to get my hands on the whole Tunog Acoustic collection and any album that has Barbie Almalbis in it and those tribute albums that have been coming out though I already have Ultraelectromagneticjam!: The Music of the Eraserheads.

I am officially freaking myself out.

Weakness.

I didn't know that I was attracted to jaws until I saw this photo:

Actually, now that I think about it, I was never attracted to people with prominent jaws.

Nako, Kean, malala na'to...

Proud Mom Post

Okay, I know that Brianna is waaaaaaaaaaaay too young to know what she's doing but I got so excited when I saw these photos in my phone.

(Note: I didn't edit anything except for the watermark.)

Enjoy my baby's work!

I'm sorry for the huge, unruly hair. Just woke up. I think I was changing her diaper here.
I love the effect of this photo, especially the 3-6-9 part.
I don't know how she took this. The phone she used was a C3 and we all know that it doesn't have a built in flash. What's more puzzling is she was "taking the photo" of the underside of the bed.
