The Secret

The first time I've watched The Secret was 2 years ago. I had a huge belly, a really complicated home-and-lovelife situation and a very confused mind. I didn't know what I should be doing (and thinking of) at that time. The seminar for The Law of Attraction came around that time, followed by the PSI 4-day seminar that totally changed my life.

Why this blog post? Well, my aunt sent me an e-mail enumerating all the keywords/phrases from the book/film, The Secret. I remember how empowered I am every time I see them and I just wanted to share the positivity with everyone. I hope these inspire you the same way they do me.

  • Law of Attraction – what will help you generate the feeling to get what you want
  • Thoughts become things
  • Whatever it is you are feeling is a perfect reflection of what is in the process of becoming
  • What you think, what you feel, and what you manifest, is always a match
  • The way you feel is everything
  • The universe likes speed; don’t delay, don’t second-guess
  • Most people offer the majority of their thought in response to what they are observing
  • Believe what you want, believe that you deserve it, believe it could happen to you
  • When you have inspired thought, you have to trust in and act on it
  • Go to the sense of inner vision first, and all other things will follow
  • You are the only one who creates your reality
  • Happier thoughts leads to essentially happier bio-chemistry
  • What you resists, persists
  • Focus on what you want; what you don’t want will fall away.
  • Every single “why not” is a creation
  • Constantly put yourself in a state of joy

Discover the Wonders of Singing

I was once a choir member. I didn't know what came over me but I asked for the 10am choir head to make me a part of the 10am children's choir of the Our Lady of Peace Parish in Sucat when I was in second grade and next thing I knew, I've been serving the church every weekend. It didn't stop even though we've moved to Pasig in 2001. Every Friday from first year high school until second year college - if I'm not mistaken - I would commute to Sucat just to attend practices and the 10am mass. I didn't consider myself as a singer then...heck, I don't even consider myself as a singer now - I'm more of a dancer, really - but I guess it's safe to say that I can carry a tune.

Well, apparently, there's a right way of singing that I didn't know of in all those years in the children's choir. Superstar Voice Training is currently offering a voice seminar on the right way of singing which will be conducted by Coach Rona De Leon.

Coach Rona has been singing professionally since 1994 with projects ranging from jingles to movie theme songs. She also performed in a lot of hotels and lounges here in the Philippines and abroad both as a solo performer and as part of a band. She's had vocal training under the Yamaha School of Music and the Center for Pop Music Philippines. At the tender age of 16, Mr. Butch Albarracin, the founder of Center for Pop, took her under his wing and trained her to become a voice coach and since then, she's been training individuals and groups and help them reach their fullest singing potential. Kim Chiu, Sam Milby and Rhian Ramos are just a few of the celebrities who have been under her tutelage.

On August 4 and 5, 2012, Saturday and Sunday, she will be conducting yet another voice seminar for those who aspire to become the next singing idols of the country. Discover the Wonders of Singing will be held at Camp Art Studio (Unit 209 2F Cityland Pasong Tamo, 6264 Estacion St. Brgy. Pio del Pilar, Makati City). The schedule for August 4 is 3pm - 7pm while August 5, day 2, will start at 1pm and will end at 5pm.

The seminar will cover basic vocal workouts, singing techniques, stage performance and vocal health. Although children (and children-at-heart) of all ages can attend the seminar, it is ideal for 12-year-olds and above.

Registration fee for the 2-day seminar is Php1,500. Interested parties could call or text Coach Rona at 0916-695-6813. You can also check the Superstar Voice Training by Coach Rona De Leon Facebook page for more information about the seminar workshop.

Baptismal seminar slapped me in the face.

Bry and I went to the baptismal seminar in the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Retiro (Ninongs and Ninangs, take note!) last Friday. Bry's mom and his cousin, Jane, conducted the seminar. I was soooo sleepy and I thought I knew everything they will be saying there (e.g. Reason for white dress, annointing of oil, etc.) since I graduated from a Catholic school. Twice. Boy, was I wrong.

Being a parent requires a whole lot of work. Yes, providing for the child and caring for him/her, in itself, is hardwork already. But they pointed out that what you do - and not what you say - is more important. Think about your parents for a while. They always say stuff to you, right? Like eat your vegetables, go home early, etc. But do THEY do it? A parent's job is to be an example. And that, my friends, is the most crucial part of being a parent. The kids will look at what you are doing, how you are doing things, how you respond to what's happening around you (eep!).

Now, how did that affect me? Simple. I responded quite weakly to the situation involving me and my little family. The situation swallowed me whole and I have succumbed to what my parents have been forcing me to do out of guilt (I am constantly being reminded that I am the biggest problem in their lives and that I am the reason why they've been very stressed, which sounds stupid considerig they brought the stress upon themselves when they decided to meddle with Bry and my decision to get married). Upon leaving the seminar, I realized that I need to fix this situation, pronto. Bry can only help so much. Everything, pretty much, is on my shoulders.

Now that I think about it, I have been bringing everything to myself. Everything includes not being married to Bry and living apart from him, Brianna's surname (which will be a big hassle when we change it), my frustrations of not being able to live my OWN life and so much more. I have the capability to decide. I know it. But the guilt is pulling me so far down that if I don't do anything about it, I might just rot in my parent's house without a husband and a child who will be blaming me for not fighting for her dad.

Yes, all of those thoughts were running in my mind during the seminar. The listening and storing part of my mind was on auto-pilot that night so I got the details I needed to remember for the baptism so I was able to go into deep thinking then. Which led to the conversation I had with Bry later that night. Which is an entirely different story.
