I'm jologs and I like it.

I usually pretend that I like sosyal stuff just so my social media followers - who are mostly friends from school - won't judge me but I really am a jologs at heart.

I've been watching recent movies these past few weeks. Two movies I've been really meaning to watch when they first came out in the theaters were part of the list: The Fault In Our Stars and She's Dating The Gangster.

Both movies have great reviews online, obviously, made by different sets of people and honestly, I enjoyed them both but one movie played with my emotions more...

I'm not even gonna try to convince you why this is the better movie of the two because, well, I know that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" yadda yadda yadda and this won't be a review of sorts. I just want to say that I really enjoyed this movie more than I did The Fault In Our Stars. Maybe it's because of Daniel Padilla's albularyo look or maybe Kathryn Bernardo's red-lips-aviators-white-button-down ensemble... I don't know. I just like it better, okay?

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction 4DX Screening with KitKat #breakommendation

I was just saying how I needed a break from it all and Nuffnang and KitKat's invitation for the 4DX screening of the Transformers 4: Age of Extinction couldn't have come at a better time. It was held at the new Bonifacio High Street Cinemas, located at the new Bonifacio High Street building which isn't completely done yet.

(Commercial: To all Friends fans out there, a Pottery Barn store will open in this new wing.)

(That famous apothecary table might be available in the store along with the bird cage and that room divider in Phoebe and Rachel's apartment. Yay, right?)

Anyway, the movie house looks exactly like how other Ayala cinemas look like but the ticket booth kinda took my breath away for a second.

I think that amazed look on my face (that probably all the Nuffies saw) is proof that I haven't really gone out for a long while.

Upon registration, the Nuffies gave us food stubs for a couple of sandwiches from Quiznos for dinner.

Can I just say I hate how my hips look here.

After dinner, we went back to the cinemas to register with KitKat this time.

The girls manning the booth were really friendly and patient with everyone, I was thinking I can't do what they do…plus, they were a lot younger than me so I probably won't get hired in the first place. They gave away loot bags that have different kinds of KitKats and other freebies inside.

(Another commercial: While we were waiting for the movie to start, we were watching people fill their cones with ice cream at Family Mart. I've got one thing to say about that: Students are NOTORIOUS when it comes to all-you-cans.)

After all the waiting - we were scheduled to watch the last full show - we all went inside the 4DX cinema. It looks like your typical cinema except I thought that the seats were more comfortable.

When the movie started, the seats started moving ever so slightly that it makes you think if it really is moving. To be quite honest, the whole "ride" made me really dizzy that by the time Optimus Prime and the rest of the gang were "rolling out", I was already sitting on the aisle. I also had to take the shades off, too, because I was pretty sure that's what triggered my dizziness. The boyfriend sat with me on the aisle until the movie ended which I found really sweet (Oo, mababaw lang ako). There were also other environmental effects like cold wind and this scent that smells really bad whenever a car/robot appears on screen. There was also this thing that poked us on the leg that made me jump.

I can't believe I actually sat through an entire boy-movie without falling asleep considering the fact that I wasn't able to sleep in the afternoon and I had a few beers in me. Actually, I've been watching a whole lot of boy-movies lately so I'm proud of myself. I enjoyed the movie despite the dizziness. I just thought maybe it kinda lacked some kind of story… I'm saying that probably because I haven't seen the movies before that one so my opinion doesn't count.

Anyway, that was a fun experience. Not only because there's free chocolates but because it's my first time to actually attend a Nuffnang screening.

Incidentally, it's my first actual movie date with the boyfriend because we usually do movie marathons at home instead of going out because we think it's much sweeter that way.

Thanks to KitKat and Nuffnang for the opportunity to actually see Transformers 4: Age of Extinction in the new 4DX theater without spending a single peso…and for the free chocolates, too, of course!

Keep Calm and Watch Movies

I have a confession to make: I am not fond of watching movies. At all. Which is quite ironic, considering I am a Communication Arts graduate. That doesn't mean, though, that I don't watch movies and I don't enjoy myself when I do. In fact, I've formed a theory for how I experience movies now: Since I don't watch a lot of it, the movies that I do watch blow my mind every. Single. Time. It doesn't matter if it's an actual mind-blowing indie movie or a super cheesy Star Cinema rom-com; it will still have me staring at the rolling credits by the end of the movie. (Which might be the biggest "movie violation" I've been doing, not paying attention to the closing credits)

In all fairness, I've watched a whole lot of movies for someone who isn't really fond of doing it. And like some mid-20, lovesick, fictional book character, there was one movie that started this on-again, off-again love affair with movies:

The first movie I remember seeing was the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie. I was a huge fan of the TV show version back then and who wasn't? It was probably the biggest foreign TV show that time; probably even bigger than how big Koreanovelas are now. Anyway, I remember forcing my dad to bring me to SM Southmall - which opened a month before Power Rangers was shown, if I'm not mistaken - to watch the movie because I totally didn't want to feel left out. It was a PG-7 movie and I've yet to turn 7 that time and I remember clearly how freaked out I was when we got in line for the tickets. I thought they'd figure out I was just 6 and reprimand me for even asking to watch the movie. I haven't thought that I had an adult accompanying me; I just thought they were going to kick me out of the theater. I don't remember how the movie goes now but I know I enjoyed myself so much because when my friends and I talk about it now, we agree that it was the highlight of our first grader lives.

I've watched a bunch of movies after Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie has opened that gate for me, mostly Star Cinema-produced ones (I'm a jologs at heart. Don't judge.) Although I can probably name you all the movies I've seen 'cause they're not that much. Now, though, I want to start watching movies again, thanks to the movie buff that is my boyfriend (Yes, I'm exactly the type of girlfriend who adapts to whatever it is my boyfriend is into. I've been so hooked to this animated film for the past few months, first because Brianna's been watching a lot of it and second, I can totes relate to Rapunzel. I wanna see the light, too! (Not that light, okay? I don't want to die yet. Hahaha!)

This really makes me think whenever I see it.

The Great Gatsby

There are 3 things that I loved about The Great Gatsby:

1. The soundtrack (I love you, Jay-Z!!!)
2. LThe production design
3. The great Gatsby

But there's one thing that I hated about it: Daisy.

My realizations after the movie? The babydaddy SHOULD watch this movie for him to know what a gold digger really is. Not that I care that he changes his perception of me. I just want him to learn 

...and that I should get back to reading. I felt sort of guilty not having to read the book first before watching the movie.

...and how similar the (serious) movies I enjoy watching are: The Great Gatsby, Prestige, Inception.

...and how awesome Jay-Z('s influence) truly is! (I love the soundtrack so much, okay?!)

Ang hirap mag-move on sa katawan ni Daniel Craig.

Watching Skyfall is one of the worse decisions I've done this month not because I didn't enjoy the (plot of the) movie but because I am having a hard time moving on from this:

I didn't even understand the deal with the crazy guy and why he wanted to kill the head of MI6. I just focused on Daniel Craig's body like it were the best thing that happened to the 007 saga.

The Secret

The first time I've watched The Secret was 2 years ago. I had a huge belly, a really complicated home-and-lovelife situation and a very confused mind. I didn't know what I should be doing (and thinking of) at that time. The seminar for The Law of Attraction came around that time, followed by the PSI 4-day seminar that totally changed my life.

Why this blog post? Well, my aunt sent me an e-mail enumerating all the keywords/phrases from the book/film, The Secret. I remember how empowered I am every time I see them and I just wanted to share the positivity with everyone. I hope these inspire you the same way they do me.

#DramaLines

As I am writing this, the boys of Boys' Night Out is discussing the topic, #DramaLines, and as I've said in Twitter, I have a lot of "bala" for this trending topic because I love hearing and, I admit, throwing these kinds of lines to family, friends, flings, ex-boyfriends and current boyfriends.

My favorite #DramaLines from the movies, though, is this:

So, there. That's the greatest #DramaLines from a movie ever. At least for me... I mean, I haven't watched a whole lot of movies so this does it for me.

I forgot how hot Aaron Samuels is.

I currently have Mean Girls paused on my media player because I just have to remind everyone how gorgeous Jonathan Bennett is in this movie. If I were a tenth grader, I would totally face the wrath of Regina George and do Aaron Samuels in the projection room above the auditorium instead of Shane Oman.

He sorta has this one look on his face in the duration of the film but what the heck, he's so easy on the eyes, I don't even recognize it all that much.

I grabbed this photo from some other person's blog just because I love how his body looks here. He's not too muscular (read: bato-bato) but you know he works out. There's something about his belly button here that I am drawn into but I don't know what exactly engages me to it.

Anyway, downloading Van Wilder: Freshman Year now because I saw this:

The quote everyone is talking about.

John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo's 10th year as the Philippine power loveteam brought about the movie, The Mistress and along with it comes a quote that I have been seeing and hearing everywhere:

Di porket gusto mo, makukuha mo.

The first time you will read or hear it, you'll probably agree with it. For me, though, when I started analyzing it (because I've been seeing and hearing it a lot especially when they were doing their promotional rounds among a lot of ABS-CBN TV shows), I realized that I do not agree with it at all.

I have one simple reason: If you want it THAT much, you'll do ANYTHING to get it and you WILL get it. I know, I know, there will come a point where you realize that it's either (1) not worth it anymore, (2) it's not the right thing to do or (3) it's hurting somebody else but that's exactly my point. You will stop at NOTHING if you really want it. Yes, not even if it's against your ideals. If you're having second thoughts in pursuing it, stopping halfway through pursuing it or hesitating on grabbing the opportunity that's already there, I'm sorry but you don't want it bad enough, no matter what you say.

The excuses that you come up with not attaining a certain goal are the proofs you're looking for that tells you that you do not want something bad enough. When you stop giving excuses, that's when you know you want it for real.

My kinda guy?

I was watching Praybeyt Benjamin online awhile ago - oo na, jologs nako - because I cannot remember what it's all about. I remembered halfway through the film that Kean Cipriano and Derek Ramsay are part of the cast which got me to watch it even more closely (Tutti Caringal is there, too, but that's not what I want need to talk about here).

Somewhere in the end, there was a scene where both of them are in the same frame:

Okay, the shot is definitely all about Derek but Kean is in the background so that counts as being in the same frame.

When I was watching this scene, I've come to the realization that what attracted me to these two are their jaws. Look at how sharp they are! I swear; I could nibble and bite on them 'til the day I die.

I don't think I'd be able to prevent myself from turning Jell-O when I meet them both but I would really love to (without looking like a fan). Soon.

The Dark Knight Rises

Don't worry, no spoilers to those who haven't watched it yet.

Last night, me and my girls watched The Dark Knight Rises in Glorietta 4. Honestly, I wasn't really that much excited when Jill pitched the idea but I wanted to see all of them that I thought "What the hell, tatlong oras lang naman". I didn't expect for it to have the effect it did on me:

I actually enjoyed the movie.

I am totally not the superhero-action-movie kind of girl and now that I think about it, I really am not a movie person period. If you should know, I've slept through  the whole Matrix trilogy and the first X-Men movie. I'm the last person you'd want to invite to a superhero-slash-action movie marathon with. I'd stay up the entire night marathon-ing TV series - both local and foreign - but you won't ever see me awake during movie marathons. Although I'd stay awake if we watched really cheesy chick flicks or Star Cinema (circa 2000++)-produced films because that's how I roll.

What kept me up, in this case, is the intrigue behind Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character (c/o Jill and Mafe) which totally blew my mind in the end that I punched Malia so hard on her arm that I'm pretty sure she's gonna punch me on the face the next time it happens. The last cafe scene confused me, though. I was sorta forcing the Inception POV. Haha!

Lastly, Anne Hathaway is great except I kept on remembering her eyeglasses-braces-and-big-curly-hair, Princess Diaries days so I cannot fully appreciate her performance in the movie.

All in all, The Dark Knight Rises is good. It doesn't guarantee I'm gonna watch the next one if there is a next movie nor will it guarantee me, watching more superhero action movies in the future. But it's good. Really good.

A few things I noticed after watching A Walk To Remember for a hundred millionth time.

1. I think Lea Michele/Leah Michelle is part of the extras. She appears beside Landon in the first theater meeting for the spring play with blond hair. I think.

2. The "Are you trying to seduce me?" scene takes place - of all places - in the cemetery.

3. When Jamie runs away after telling Landon that she has luekemia, Landon doesn't chase her to see if she gets home safely. What if she dies on her way home?!

4. Jamie's dad looks incredibly fresh in the "I'm not going anywhere. Please tell Jamie that." scene, it looks like it's the first scene they shot with the father.

5. Landon learns the waltz from his mom but doesn't use it when he dances with Jamie on the balcony.

6. All scenes shot indoors are morning/afternoon scenes except the play, which took place in the evening.

7. Indoor shots are lit ridiculously well, they look like they're scenes from Days Of Our Lives.

Am I the only person not following the Harry Potter franchise?

I've read one book from the series and I watched the first film but that's it. It was dragging for me, both the movie and the book so I never bothered continue even if the whole world got crazy over it. I got hooked with Twilight only because of the hype. Harry Potter? Even if my family and friends push me to read and watch it, I wouldn't be bothered. The internet, television, radio, print ads, everywhere I see the last of the movie franchise but didn't get the least bit interested in it. I wasn't even curious how it ended.

I feel like something's wrong with me.

#8. For some reason, I don't watch jologs movies with Piolo Pascual in it.

"I was afraid this time would come. I wasn't prepared to face this kind of hurting from within. I have learned to live my life beside you. Maybe I'll just dream of you tonight and if into my dreams, you'd come and touch me once again, I'll just keep on dreaming 'til my heartaches end..."

I watched this movie just now because there's nothing good on TV. Trish had a copy of this movie stored in the laptop. I did not download it. And I am not guilty. Hee.

The movie's about Paolo (Gerald Anderson), a SALES AGENT and Agnes (Kim Chui), a graduate of nursing studying for the board exams. Long story short, Paolo BECAME OBSESSED WITH WORKING AND MONEY WHILE HIS RELATIONSHIP with Agnes - who thinks HER BOYFRIEND IS THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE - SUFFERED. In the end, they broke up and lived their own lives.

I believe that a love story like this could end better. I mean, if they both decided to fix their relationship, they could live their lives together and have a family and be actually happy. Happiness and love is a decision, right? We have the power to choose what we want to be and how we want to live our lives. It just takes courage and sacrifice...and persistence.

Pero really, like what Agnes asked in the movie: Can someone really be THAT busy?

Her tiny face was so absolutely perfect that it stunned me. She was even more beautiful than her father. Unbelievable. Impossible.
