Let it go... That perfect girl is gone.

I know I'm moooooooonths late on joining the Frozen bandwagon and I'm very sorry, Brianna, I've failed you (LOL not really) but this song...it's definitely written for me! Yes, I am a 15-year-old spoiled little snob who thinks EVERYTHING is about her trapped in a 20-something single mom's body.

But seriously, whenever this song comes on - which in this household is a LOT, thanks to Brianna - I shut down and think of all the things I will achieve this year if I just let go of the thought that I am not good enough and that I am a failure. After that, I get all determined and focused and stuff. It's like my anthem of sorts.

"It's time to see what I can do, to test the limits and break through. No right, no wrong; no rules for me, I'm free!"

When will my life begin?

I've been so hooked to this animated film for the past few months, first because Brianna's been watching a lot of it and second, I can totes relate to Rapunzel. I wanna see the light, too! (Not that light, okay? I don't want to die yet. Hahaha!)

The Science of Happiness - An Experiment in Gratitude

I stumbled upon this video while I was browsing through my Facebook feed just a few minutes ago (started writing this post at 12:14pm). After attending the seminar that changed my life back in 2010, I vowed to myself to read books, watch shows and click on links that I know will uplift my spirits so I did just that; I clicked on the link. A few seconds into the video, I thought "Ay, alam ko na'to" but after watching the whole video, I can't help but tear up a bit and feel all happy(/ier?) than I already am and I suddenly felt the need to express my gratitude towards this specific person. So now, I will be doing what the "happy scientist" suggested by the end of the video: I will be writing about that person who gave a huge contribution to who I am now and how I see myself most of the time: My Tatay.

For the record, I don't have the guts to actually tell what I'm about to write to him over the phone, let alone in person so I just hope he stumbles upon this post somehow...

The person who's made the biggest impact in my life is my Tatay. He's been my rock for as long as I can remember. There has been a lot - and I mean A LOT - of times when I have disappointed him - I know because he makes the disappointment known - but at the end of the day, he's the first person who makes me feel loved despite everything. He talks about me (and my little accomplishments) with pride to practically everyone who's willing to listen - and with me in the same area, within earshot - which really means a lot especially to someone who's been struggling with her self-esteem for the most part of her life (quite ironic with the whole idea of this small project but there's a back story I'm not willing to go into...not right now, anyway). He always, always gives me a pat on the back whenever I did a job, no matter how small, well done which never fails to send a warm feeling in my chest.
He never interferes whenever I have a confrontation with my mom - which I always lose in because, well, "I'm just a kid" - but when I make a strong point, he's the person who acknowledges it.
He might not be in favor of a lot of my choices and he always gives me a piece of his mind in his scary, angry voice but once I make the decision, whether it favors him or not, he supports me with it (but not without getting the cold treatment haha!). Not just the para masabi lang support that most parents tend to give their children but real support wherein I don't hear any sumbat after I suffer the consequences he told me about in the first place. He helps me pick up the pieces of whatever's broken but just hands them to me, to make me figure out how I should piece them all back together myself (which I really appreciate 'cause that's how I want things to be in the first place). And if ever I finally made the right decision, I can feel the pride and the happiness radiating from him even if he has his poker face on and he remains silent for the most part. He might not say it but I feel loved with every "'Nak" uttered and every little smile sent my way.
I'd be lucky to find a partner who's half the man my Tatay is. I think that when that person comes, he'd know the man's right for me, too. I mean, parents have that kind of instinct, right?
I love my Tatay so much even though I don't say it much (I don't think I've ever said it to his face) and practically everyone knows how I'm a self-proclaimed Daddy's Girl even if he never made us, his kids, feel like he has a favorite among us. Bakit ba? Feeling ko lang naman yun and I'm pretty sure my sister feels the same way, too.

I've never teared up that much for a blog entry before but I really feel good right now. I started 2014 with gratitude and I know it's still too early to tell but as I've said in my Instagram post, so far, so damn good. This Science of Happiness thing is true. I encourage everyone to try it. :)

New favorite workout (old) song.

I don't even know if my title makes sense but what the hell...

While working out earlier today, I've stumbled upon Cassie's song, Me and You, after a long long time. I was so into the beat while working out, I didn't realize how relevant the lyrics are to my life right now. After cooling down, I actually listened to it again and thought "Hmmm... Interesting." Not that I can totes relate to each and every word of the song but, yeah. It's basically the perfect song.

"I was waiting for you to tell me you were ready. I know what to do if only you would let me..."

Also, once I get my rockin' body, I'd wear what Cassie's sporting in the video while working out. That's the dream!

#LaslasNaFriend

Yet another depressing song c/o the Philippine music industry.

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Malas mo, ikaw ang natipuhan ko...

"Di mo lang alam ako'y iyong nasaktan o baka sakali lang maisip mo naman puro siya na lang; sana ako naman..."

I love the fact that there are a lot of OPM songs that are about being friendzoned.

Patay kung patay.

I know this is a cheesy late 90s/early 2000 song and it's not exactly the best boy band song ever but it captures what I'm going through right now:

PS. My heart was literally hurting while this was playing. Totoong literally ah, not Robin Scherbatsky-literally.

Don't wanna try no more.

Sunday is cleaning day in the Tejada household and after 349871893479817232 years, I decided to join in the chaos that is my mom running back and forth like a chicken with its head cut off. While wiping dust off of my desk - I haven't been living in my room for the longest time - this song came on the iPod. I literally stopped cleaning and just listened to it. One word: SAPUL.

This completes phase numero uno of Oplan ItAin'tOver, if you know what I mean... (You probably don't but my friends [My Humps] do.)

Zalora Launches TVC Online

My favorite online shopping haven, Zalora Philippines, has launched their TVC online last January 8 over their YouTube channel. If you watch a lot of TV, though, you'd have seen it late last year because they've aired it over 4 cable channels for 2 weeks prior to the online release. I think I saw it on Star World twice. If you haven't seen it yet, here it is:

I can somewhat relate to the TVC. I mean, I've become really addicted to online shopping despite the lack of funds. Although no one in the household made a video about it, I keep on getting "Ano ba yan?! May delivery ka nanaman?!" comments from almost everyone that it's getting funnier and funnier as time goes by. What can I say? It's just so addicting!

Zalora.com.ph has a wide range of products, from clothes to home furniture. You can take advantage of the End of Season Sale that's happening in the store right now, too. While you're at it, you can use my voucher code, Aletotski0 [Aletotski(zero)], when you check out for discounts. Yes, you can use the voucher codes to get discounts for the sale items, too.

Heard this while on our way to Tagaytay a few days ago and thought: "Ito yun e."

Sasamahan ka sa tamis. Sasamahan ka sa pait. Sasamahan ka sa dilim. Sasamahan ka hanggang langit.

Updating my playlist

Being a full-time mom does weird things to your playlist like having these four songs added into it while you play them (supposedly) for your daughter non-stop for a month:

I guess it's obvious why I like this song. It's all about love. It's the closest thing that the Hi5 gang has to a love song. Actually, I just checked the lyrics here and it is indeed a love song. It's simple but it's a really sweet song.

Wow! is about doing things that you think you cannot do. It's empowering. It's telling us to do whatever we want and be whatever we want to be because we were all born amazing.

Some Kind of Wonderful is yet another love song in this children's songs line-up. I love how whoever this song is written for is everything to the person who wrote it. It's the perfect pop love song.

This last song became a part of the playlist not because of the lyrics but because of the music. I love how the song would (probably) fit in a (really cheesy) club playlist.

I hope I'm not the only one with weird children's songs in my playlist... Well, actually, I take that back. I really like these songs (plus Tim Maddren is in all the videos so...)

Children's shows just got better...

So Brianna has been demanding for us to watch Hi5 videos online almost all the time and the only reason why I am not complaining even if it's taking up most of my "work" time is because of this guy:

Tim Maddren. *drool*

I don't know how I'd be able to last another second watching those videos without his face in them. He's especially pogi in the video Stand Up Tall On Tippy Toes.

No, this song isn't for someone...at least at first it wasn't.

Okay, I loved this song the first time I heard it years ago and I admit, I didn't actually understand what the song meant then. I just thought the melody's sweet and Ronnie Liang's voice sounds nice here, compared to the other songs I've heard him sing in Pinoy Dream Academy.
I searched for the lyrics just a few minutes ago and realized what the song actually meant. Nakakatawa. The first verse and refrain goes:
Minamasdan kita
Nang hindi mo alam
Pinapangarap kong ikaw ay akin
Mapupulang labi
At matingkad mong ngiti
Umaabot hanggang sa langit
Huwag ka lang titingin sa akin
At baka matunaw ang puso kong sabik
How funny is that? I've thought of one person after reading the lyrics of the song and it made me chuckle. If I were in college, I bet this would've been my song for him.

(Sorry if I seem too hung up with my college life lately. Blast from the past e.)

Welcome to my life (right now).

I'm actually researching Rebecca Black.

I got curious on who this Rebecca Black girl is. She's been trending (number one) in Twitter for the past few days so today, while Brianna's sleeping, I decided to research her.

Apparently, she's the voice of the worst song ever written. I refuse to watch her video on YouTube but I heard her song in TMZ a while ago anyway and her voice sounded bad. My voice sounds bad, too, I know but I don't sing in public.

I wanted to post her video here but I am too lazy to look her up on YouTube - a lot of people made videos about and for her, I can't find the original 13 million hits video - so if you want to listen to her, just go to YouTube.
