Nat Geo Earth Day Run Results
Even if my results are quite embarrassing, I'm posting it for everyone to see since it's also up in the race results page of the Nat Geo Earth Day Run anyway. I don't understand whatever it is the graph is telling me but finishing at 49mins. in a 5k run has got to be slow. The first person to finish the 5k category finished it at 16mins.
And while we're at it, I kept looking for that hot guy covered in tattoo who ran 21k and finished at aroun 47-48mins in the photos posted in Facebook to no avail. How could the photographers not take his photo?! He's practically a god! Oh, yeah. Most photographers were men...

Nat Geo Earth Day Run 2013
When I saw the ad for the Nat Geo Earth Day Run 2013 on TV a month ago, I immediately wanted to run it. I asked the family about it and I was surprised that my parents actually agreed to register the run with me. I did so in the kiosk in Greenbelt 3 - thanks to Kulit Runner for the information about the kiosk - when I went out with a couple of friends.
Fast forward to last night: My parents decided to back out the last minute from the run due to lack of training. My siblings happily agreed - since they didn't have to pay for anything - to run it with me.
We ran 5k. Carlo finished at 36 minutes, Trish at 42 and I finished at 49 minutes. Personally, I was so proud of the two 'cause even without the training, they finished early without suffering any cramps but it just reminded me of how old I really am and that I should work on strengthening my body, especially my apparently really weak legs.
I didn't bring a camera or my phone - we used Trish's phone in the photo above - during the run but there were a lot of things I wanted to take photos of, like the water stations and one of their sponsors' booths that won't refill the water bottles and forced people to drink off of the cups. Too bad.
Anyway, we had to line up to get goodie bags and the certificates of participation after the run which took 30 minutes. I didn't want to leave the line despite Trish's attempts to change my mind. After all, we paid for those bags.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Nothing major really happened as far as the 5k run was concerned. I just think they should've done something about the plastic bottles and paper cups provided for by their hydration sponsors. Using those defeats the purpose of the run and their advocacy.

I knew it!
Remember when I said I felt I was part of the top 20 of our wave at the Outbreak BGC? Well...
I ran a shorter course, though, me thinks.

More, more participants for Outbreak BGC!
Due to an overwhelming demand for slots to Outbreak Manila 2 a.k.a. Outbreak BGC, their management will open 2 new waves tomorrow, July 13, 2012.
The 2 new waves will run at 11:40pm which they call Wave Desperate and 11:50pm, dubbed as Wave Last Chance. I love the way they called these 2 new additions to the original wave list. It's appropriate for the people who will be signing up.
Registration, though, will be limited to Toby's Shangri-La and RUNNR Boni High Street unlike the original registration and only 200 slots per store will be opened for these waves. First-come-first-served basis, of course, like the regular registration. Shangri-La opens at 11am, if I am not mistaken while High Street opens at 10. In my opinion, it will be easier to register in RUNNR High Street because you don't have to wait outside the mall and actually run to get to their store but I think that most people know that by now so just be there early, okay?
I hope my cousin takes advantage of this since he's the one who has been gushing about this since Nuvali. His loss if he's not running. I mean, as I've mentioned before, Anne Curtis, Isabelle Daza and Georgina Wilson might run the fun run and now, I learned that Will DeVaughn and the gang will be running after us "mere mortals", too!
Anyway, if my cousin won't, that's one more slot for you! Hihi. Let's do this, come on! Head over to Toby's Shangri-La and RUNNR Boni High Street tomorrow and secure that slot. I can feel that Outbreak BGC will definitely be a night to remember.

It's a go!
Since I have a very responsible sister...
We're registered for Outbreak Manila already! Wooh! I know that this isn't really an official marathon/fun run of sorts but I know that it's fun and everyone will be running. We will be running the 11:30pm wave which means there's enough time for us to hangout before and after Outbreak. Wooh! I am so excited.
What's even more exciting is Isabelle Daza, Anne Curtis and Georgina Wilson will be running, too. I just don't know what wave they are in but the idea of actually (maybe) meeting them in person is adding up to my anticipation of the event. I mean, I'm all googly eyes whenever I see Georgina Wilson anywhere (except in person) and I am an Anne Curtis fan (I am not afraid to say it) so meeting - or just seeing - them in person will definitely be a highlight of my life. Okay, so I've seen Anne Curtis in St. Paul a lot before since Jasmine Curtis used to be batchmates with my sister there but I just want to see her in person again, okay?
Going back, I'd want to dress up as something for Outbreak Manila but I still don't know what because I am not exactly someone who can actually pull off a costume... Hmmm...

Outbreak Manila 2
Since I didn't get to run the first one in Nuvali and I want a follow through to my first ever fun run, I am fully dedicated to run the Outbreak Manila 2 that is going to be held on July 28 at the Bonifacio Global City.
The first time I've heard of the Zombie Run was from my cousin, when he invited me to run it earlier in the year but we didn't get to register for the Nuvali run because we completely forgot about it but now, I am doing the proactive thing of posting about the race here and by actually posting a note on my desktop:
So, what's the difference between Outbreak Manila 2 and the first one? Well, for starters, the first race was held in Nuvali in Laguna and this second race is more accessible for commuting Manilenos because of the Bonifacio Global City venue. The wide open space in BGC will provide as running grounds for the zombies and the runners.
The waves in the Outbreak Manila - Nuvali (ironic, right?) ran so early in the morning while the upcoming zombie run will take place in the evening, giving everyone the perfect zombie apocalypse feel. It's creepier because it will be harder for the runners to know where the zombies will be coming from, making it all the more exciting (I can feel my adrenaline rushing by just typing that line). Race wave schedules are as follows:
The mechanics are basically the same: You're gonna be handed three flags that represent your health. The zombies will be getting these from you while you run so be mindful of them. Of course, hiding them from the zombies is not allowed. There will be marshalls that will be present at the venue and the race track to watch out for runners who don't follow this rule.
The goal is to get out of the race alive and with at least one flag attached to your body to be eligible to get prizes. I am now thinking of ways that will help me with this. I don't think there's a way around the flags-on-the-right-side-of-your-hip rule but as they all say, if there's a will, there's a way.
There will be two courses, the easy one that's longer but with fewer zombies and the horde one with more zombies but is shorter. I, personally, would choose the easy way just because it's my first time but it will depend on what my cousins and I decide upon.
For the first 3 male and first 3 female runners to reach the finish line for both ways will win cash prizes and Apple products. How great is that, huh? Pero asa pako, I probably won't make it to the top 20 even if I wanted to.
Registrations for Outbreak Manila 2 in Bonifacio Global City will open on June 22 and will close on July 22 or until all slots are filled up, whichever comes first and that is the reason why I am registering on June 22 already. Yes, excited ako. Bakit ba? Registration centers are at:
TOBY'S SPORTS
Megamall
Mall of Asia
The Block
RUNNR
Alabang Town Center
Bonifacio High Street
There is a downloadable form available online that you can print out to make things easier for you during the registration. Just pass this form to any of the registration centers named above and pay Php800 for a race kit that includes a Manila Outbreak souvenir shirt, your race bib, the flag belt and some freebies from the sponsors. There's a zombie registration, too, for zombies who want to join the fun
Ano? Tara? Let's run the Outbreak Manila 2 in Bonifacio Global City on July 28, 2012! Practice narin 'to for the real zombie apocalypse that seems to be highly probable now. *praning*

One Race. One Family. One La Salle 3 (OROFOLS3) Race Results
I've just seen the race results for yesterday's One Race. One Family. One La Salle 3 fun run. Here are our results:
For people who didn't train for the race and who jogged for the better part of the race (teehee!), I think we did good time. I mean the last person to finish 3k finished it in an hour, 55 minutes.

One Run, One Family, One La Salle 3 (OROFOLS3): Running Towards the Next 100 Years
In line with one of my goals this year, I ran the One Run, One Family, One La Salle 3 (OROFOLS3): Running Towards the Next 100 Years fun run at the SM Mall of Asia this morning. I know I had my goal set to 5k but I registered too late so the slots for the 5k run has run out when I arrived at the Alumni office last Wednesday morning so I settled with 3k because there's no way in hell I am running 10km without any training.
Anyway, I ran with Trish this morning and we were laughing the entire waiting time because of Albie Casino and the students who were in the venue who were wearing their singlets but were wearing a pair of denim shorts and Chuck Taylors. I am not being mean but who runs with those, right? It just makes it obvious that their classes just require them to be in the event (DLSU and CSB froshies who have PE classes this term were required to attend the event) and that is the sole reason that they are there.
In all fairness with Trish, she actually ran and she loved doing it because her body surprised her (and me) by craving for more physical exercises after the run. Our bodies, though, have different reactions to the run. After we've cooled down, Trish had the strong urge to rest while I was so hyper that I was talking non-stop and I even wanted to go malling after.
All in all, my first official fun run which took too long to happen was a great experience, especially that it has something to do with my Alma Mater. I think I just waited for One Run, One Family, One La Salle 3: Running Towards the Next 100 Years to happen for me to actually join a running event. I mean, what greater way to start a healthier lifestyle than with a community I love being a part of right? Now that my back is sore and my legs feel tired, I think I am going to make this running thing a daily thing. I want to completely run my next fun run and I want it to be 5 kilometers long this time.
