Superhero-and-super-villian themed Christmas party. Help!

I know it's still on the 22nd but I'm too excited because I've Law of Attraction-ed this since I started working in TVSTYLE. I've always thought of going as a slutty Superman but that is not the case now because I'm a mom now so I have to be as wholesome as possible. I could still go as Superman but thinking about it, he seems overrated so I came up with other options. Can you help me decide which character I should go as? My best bet would be my interpretation of Tuxedo Mask.

If all else fails, though, I'm gonna go as The Hulk. Green top, tattered denim shorts and uncombed hair. Doesn't get easier than that.

This weekend is the most legen - wait for it - dary weekend yet!

It started off as how much of my weekends start. Panicking when I realize Brianna's not beside me anymore, having breakfast, checking my mails, playing Sorority Life on Facebook, lunch, siesta, all with breastfeeding and diaper changes in between. Now, instead of spending the entire afternoon and night in front of the TV, I went out.

Bry's birthday painom got moved a week after his birthday because he was sick during his birthday. Painom happened at The Plantation in C. Palanca in Makati. Nice little place.

TVSTYLE, previous officemates and his high school friends were all there to celebrate his birthday with him. Here are some of the highlights (You most probably won't get any of these but what the hell, it's for me anyway):
1. Sir Aries and his nifty little programming box.
2. "Pancake Dory" and pesto rice.
3. San Miguel lemon and apple-flavored alcoholic drink. The. Bomb. Diggity.
4. Mango Mojito. You should try this. The best mojito I've ever had.
5. Tong-its na nawala ako sa concentration ko dahil bulong nang bulong si Bry ng "Ang ganda mo".
6. Si Marvin at ang mga natutunan niya kay Bry.
7. Dr. Ricky Conde's free (love) consultation. Consultation hours: 10pm to 12am.
8. Mameha's "CS operation wounds".
9. The Happy-anniversary-sa-kanila-hindi-mo-na-birthday-Bry kampai.
10. The Jeff and Ikia scandal.
11. Iton and Betchay on Hot Issue, Nagliliyab! and Narinig Mo Na Ba Ang L8test?.
12. The 15-peso per square meter, 5-hectare land.
13. The "Birthday ko naaaaa" song that led to the best good morning greeting I've ever been given.
14. Sex-related bulungan session with Betchay.
15. Madame Betchay and her psychic, palm reading powers.
16. Enzo and Joanne encouraging me to reaudit PSI and join Starshooters and/or Heroic.
17. The usual bullying and bull session with Jeff.
18. 2+1 beer promo that got me drinking so much more then I should have in one night.
19. "5 minutes nalang, sorry brad" that lasted 2 hours.
20. The 500-peso tip.
Of course, the night - day, actually because we left The Plantation around 4am-ish - didn't end there but I don't think I'm going to publish THAT part of the story here because I want this blog to remain wholesome and rated G as much a possible. I'm gonna post it somewhere else. In Tumblr, maybe, and make the blog private.

I haven't had that much fun for as long as I can remember. I wasn't supposed to go just because of a petty misuderstanding with the mister but I'm glad I came.

Now, speaking of came...

Binyagan blues

So last Saturday was Brianna's christening. It was held at the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes and it was a very inspiring ceremony. There are times during the ceremony where I catch myself about to cry so I stop myself. It was really hot because a red head was set up in the church, near us (Thank you, TVSTYLE, for the coverage of this momentous moment - redundant much? - of our family's life.) but Brianna was surprisingly quiet and calm throughout the ceremony. The priest even said that he barely baptizes a baby who doesn't cry. Even when water was being poured to her head, she maintained her silence...she had her super cute sad face on, though.

After the church ceremony, we went to Master Bee in Ortigas (I personally like the food. The pancit was uber yummy.) for lunch. Most of the people we invited were there and I really had fun (trying to) entertain them. I secretly thought of it as practice for when Bry and I get married. Hee. So, anyway, the whole time I had Kat as my aliping sagigilid (Thank you so much, Lovey! I shall be your PA again... Pagdating ng panahon. Haha!) while I was busy trying to breastfeed in public.

I was so touched by my parents - in fairness - because they actually mingled with the De Leons and they ENJOYED it. I was kinda thinking that they'll be hesitant to talk to them and end up not talk to them. This is faaaaaar too good. As Joanne has said, ang susunod nito, kasalan na.

As I've previously said, TVSTYLE was kind enough to cover this very memorable ceremony (for free?) in video and in photo. And since everyone (almost) is a PSI grad and sales people, they were friendly to almost everyone. Apprently but not surprisingly, Sir Aries was the one who stood out because of his really friendly personality that some even thought of him as papansin. But he doesn't really care about what other people think so...

My and Bry's friends, of course, have been really awesome for just being there. I've missed everyone and I'm very thankful that they are there to celebrate with us. Lau, Ella, Jackie, Jayvee and everyone who didn't make it, I know you would've been there if you could and for that alone, I am thankful.

Red ampaos (spelling?) were flying their way to me the whole time that I got so overwhelmed. Ganun pala yun? Hee. I'm sorry, I am not observant during my inaanaks' binyags. Hee. But I have to say that Malia's "ampao" was the best one. Sorry, Kat, Jill and Sara, natalbugan kayo ni Malia.

So, anyway, after lunch, we went to Packo's in QC for the Thank You party for everyone who wanted to have a drink and (surprise, surprise) I didn't have any alcoholic drink. Which is okay, I guess because I don't think I will like drinking alcohol again. Pero di ako magsasalita ng tapos dahil malay ba natin, diba?

Got to have a heart-to-heart talk with Joanne which was nice. What's nicer was seeing my parents' bonding sesh with Bry's parents. It was heartwarming and, again, as Joanne said: Kasalan na ang susunod niyan.

After Packo's we went to Stone House for Joanne's Starshooters goal. She sang two songs with the band while the gang ordered 2 rounds of San Mig Light. As for me, I had a can of Coke and a glass of water.

The weirdest thing, though, was an OLD Australian man was hitting on me. It was one thing a WHITE GUY hit on me (all of us Filipinos know what that means), an OLD guy was an extremely different one. What the hell, bakit yun ang naattract ko? A different kind of eew. So anyway, one of my friends said I am Bry's wife and he just said "She's just the prettiest one here". Bry was really protective after that, to the point where he blocked the old man when we were on our way out.

Bry was really sweet that night, holding my hand and hugging and kissing me in front of all those people - which he rarely does.

All in all, I was really happy that day both for Brianna and for our little family. I really can't wait for Bry and I to get married and all of us three live under one roof. That day will probably be the happiest day of my life.

Note: This entry will be reposted with pictures as soon as I collect all photos of mi Bebe's baptism.

A rollercoaster of emotions...

2010 has truly been life-changing for me. A lot of heartbreaks and successes happened this year and I couldn't be more thankful.

First, I want to thank Jopet. Despite us going our separate ways, those 7 years were incredibly wonderful and I couldn't ask for anything else from you. You've been there, helping me through my darkest times and cheering me through trials I got myself into and actually encourage me to emerge successful. Thank you for the love and the care you've spoiled me with during those 7 years. I would also like to thank you for the opportunity of being a friend despite a hard and tearful break-up and for that, again, I couldn't ask for anything else.

Next, I'd like to thank my family. I know I've been a really huge pain in the ass this year and I was far from being the most ideal daughter you could ever think of having but I thank you for the support and the understanding. I probably am the luckiest girl, having you as my family. Even through the disappointments, I wouldn't trade you guys for anyone else. We still have a few more days before 2011 to fix what's broken so we can face the new year with a fresh outlook and a clearer view of what we will be encountering.

Third, my TVSTYLE family. You guys have been a huge part of my 2010. You became my shock absorbers and sponges of all the drama that went on in my life this year. Each and everyone of you played a major role in my life and I can't be thankful enough. Shout out to Kuya Delong for being my voice of reason and for pushing me to my limits (both positive and negative...at least for me).

I also would like to thank my PSI 240 family for being a part of probably the biggest and most important realization of my life. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything else.

Of course, I thank Bry for bearing this wonderful baby with me. Hon, when the clock struck 12am January 1, 2010, we vowed to one another that this will be OUR year. That we both will conquer this year as we were meant to. It has definitely been our year and this year has given us the biggest blessing anyone could ever ask for in the form of the awesome-est little baby girl, Brianna Angelica. I enjoyed being your dirty little secret, I have to be honest but we'd have to put the games aside and put Brianna on top of both our priority lists. Thank you for being so mature and childish at the same time. I hope we make the same vow - or a more binding vow in front of friends, families and God - for 2011 as we did when we welcomed 2010. I love you so much and thank you.

Lastly, I want to thank God. You made all these possible and I offer everything to you. Thank you for all the trials and achievements we had this year and most of all, I want to thank you for giving Brianna to us. She is a living testament of your love to - and between - me and Bry.

Get ready, 2011.
Brianna, Bry and I are soooooo ready to rock you!

A conversation we had at the TVSTYLE pantry yesterday...

Ate Rona: Ale, may nakita akong onesie sa Quiapo kanina. Dapat bibilin ko kaso malelate nako pag huminto pako. Sana makadaan ako ulit one of these days. Nakalagay "Future Hiphop Dancer" *makes a square on her chest using her fingers*.

Bry: Nako!

Everyone laughs.

Iton: Ang gusto kasi ni Bry "Future Rock Icon" e.
Honey, there's no problem. We can have a hiphop dancing rockstar daughter and she will be the greatest hiphop dancing rockstar there is! ☺

I enjoyed last night even without booze.

Went to the TVSTYLE annual Christmas party last night and man, there were a lot of firsts for me.

Last night was the first time I...

...went out after 9pm. Yes, since the pregnancy, whenever I go out, I have to be home before the clock strikes 9. Well, if I were staying at Bry's place, that's technically not "going out", right?
...went to a Christmas party and did not drink any kind of alcohol. Fine, first time I went to a Christmas party and did not drink any kind of alcohol since I was 13.
...went to a Christmas party and actually remembered every damn detail of what happened when I woke up the next morning.
...hungout with people who are smoking and did not feel the urge to smoke.
...sent out gifts labeled "Love, Bry & Ale". It has always been a solo thing for me, even if my ex and I were practically husband and wife to friends and each other's families.
...received gift labeled "To Bry & Ale". Again, it always has been a solo thing.
...felt this much positive attention to a relationship I have.
...had Bry kiss me that much in public. He's not the PDA kind of person. I am not, either but I have to say that I want the whole world to know how in love I am.
...have seen Bry let loose like that. He's loud but he doesn't really dance in public. Ha-ha!

I am sooooo excited for next Christmas' firsts. And one of them firsts would definitely be sending out gifts labeled "Love, Bry, Ale and Brianna". ♥

My first ever presentation as Production Manager...

Yes, I've been to countless presentations to client since I started working with TVSTYLE but last Wednesday was the ONLY presentation that got me giddy and pumped up after ('cause usually it's either I'm stressed or I just want to get home after).

You see, I'm the PM of that project. The first ever (and probably the last if I don't go back there anymore) MAJOR project they entrusted me with and the client loved it! Of course, there were minor revisions here and there but for the most part, they loved it! After the presentation, I still felt like working even if it was late already and I felt like nothing can ruin my mood. I was sooooo up in the sky that night. Every hassle was definitely worth it. Even dealing with that worthless writer was worth it.

I like the feeling of having to boss people around and be all snooty and stuff and get praised in the end and this situation gave me the opportunity to do just that... Plus, I get paid for doing it!

Resigning from my current job...

I was inspired by Ariane's post regarding quitting your current job (you can find it here).

I took a leave from work to build my "power resume" - if you call it that - and find a job that I will actually enjoy.

Don't get me wrong, though. I enjoy being in the office. All the crazy people who compliment and complement each other. All the internet and cigarettes you want when you want them. All the free time you could ever ask for. It has become my comfort zone and I've grown to love the place and all the people - all 14 of them, including Bry ♥ - who work there.

But I realized just now that since my previous Production Manager (Hello Mameh!) resigned, I just didn't have the same dedication to my work anymore. Maybe it's because after she left, they won't let me go to shoots just because of that one measly incident in our Mister Donut project. I actually think that wasn't fair but, yeah, what am I to do, right? Anyway, I'm all over that. Especially now that I have a reason not to go to shoots anymore. ☺ Plus, I'm not blaming anyone or anything regarding this.

I think I just don't enjoy my work there now, as much as I did before. Yes, I have been given bigger responsibilities now and they trust me to handle one whole department but I don't feel happy doing it. It's like I'm going through the motions but I can't feel fulfillment when I finish a task... We're not even talking about the "technical part" of being an employee (ie benefits, salaries, etc).

My decision to resign might be a selfish move to some. I might agree with them at some point but I have to think about how I want my/our life to be perfect. This is one small step to that goal.

Now, back to my "power resume".

Note: I'm considering working online 'cause I'm tamad like that.

I am such a liar...

Production Manager: Yeeeeees, naglulungkut-lungkutan...

Ale: Not really...

That felt good...

Talked to my Mameh during lunch break regarding my concerns. I can't help telling her that it was unfair for me because they evaluated me on just one project.

"Kapansin-pansin ka kasi nung araw na yun..." Yes, I know. Because everyone's talking about what has been happening to me and The Lion. Talk of the town, kumbaga. So anyway, I let that go because I knew that waaaay before the shoot.

It was also unfair for me that they've evaluated me AFTER Tuguegarao and Bataan. I don't want to sound arrogant or anything but they let me manage those projects without my Mameh and everything turned out well. They even told me I delivered perfectly that time.

As a PA, I'm not that much harag during a shoot. I usually just ask the client for food and water and I call the van and log shots and all those small things. So what I don't understand is after all the shoot I've been with (one of our major clients brought me to hell lot of places), they tell me ONLY in that fateful shoot that I wasn't doing anything. I mean, is it my fault I move quickly and finish all my responsibilities during the shoot much earlier than everyone else?

Like what I told Mameh: "Mas okay na saking sabihin sa akin na 'Di ka na namin isasama sa shoot kasi wala ka namang ginawa dun kundi makipaglandian' kesa sabihing 'Di ka na namin isasama sa shoot kasi di mo nagagawa mga kailangan mong gawin' kasi seryoso ako sa trabaho ko and I make it a point na maaccomplish ko lahat bago ako makipaglandian."

I got really pissed but I'm good now. I talked to her and I heard what she has to say.

KAILANGAN KONG RUMACKET SA LABAS KASI OBVIOUSLY, DI AKO MAKAKAPAGSHOOT NGAYON SA AMIN KASI DI KO DAW NAGAGAMPANAN ANG RESPONSIBILIDAD KO.

Of resignations and going overseas...

I was once again trapped in the situation where my parents gang up on me regarding my work at TVStyle Video.

They - along with my ex-boyfriend - have been forcing me to resign from TVS since I got there. My parents don't want me there because TVS is not ABS-CBN or Globe or Nestle. Get it? My ex-boyfriend doesn't want me there because he said he doesn't trust the people there.

I have to admit that there was a point where I wanted to resign myself. The friendships I made were great but there was a point where my work has become so routinary that I wanted to quit. But everything changed when 2010 came. There were these seminars that I attended (Law of Attraction, Who Moved My Cheese?, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People) and books that I read (Rich Dad, Poor Dad) that made me change my mind.

So obviously, right now, I'm sticking with TVS.

At lunch a while ago, we were talking about my cousins who went to Dubai 2 weeks ago. They were telling me that Hongkong and Singapore were good places to work since a minimum of 45-minute plane ride was needed to get to those countries from the Philippines. I told them that personally, I didn't want to leave this shithole. (Yes, I admit this place wouldn't be better in the next 20 years but that doesn't mean that I will be leaving.)

So anyway, they went "Kailangan stable na na company yung pinagtatrabahuhan mo, blah blah blah..." I walked out at that statement. Which apparently wasn't a good idea because I had the chance to prove what I had to prove pero I let it go.

Okay, I must admit that I just didn't want the conflict that will arise if I go "E ayoko nga e..." on them. I'm a sissy like that. But I should've said something. At least they wouldn't have thought I didn't have the conviction to fight for what I believe in.

I will be leaving TVS. Just not now.
