A Welcome Distraction

Last Sunday, Kat and I went to the Arena to witness the DLSU-ADMU Dream Game Part 2, which they called The Revenge. They should've called it The Repeat. LOL.

Anyway, since I am on Oplan GetOverHim, Joseph Yeo's amazing smile and pogi moves on the hardcourt is a welcome distraction.

This shot with Ren Ren is so adorbs, I'd kiss them both if I could.

Even caught in mid-sentence, he still looks damn good.
Having Chris Tiu in the same frame makes the photo even more breathtaking. Sorry, TY.

Game face: ON. Pogi parin.
Half of his face? No problem! Pogi parin!

And the money shot. Drum roll please...

The thirties definitely look good on The Ninja. I don't think I will ever get tired of his face.

Thank you, Joseph Yeo, for distracting me from the impending heartache even for just a few days. I know I have to get back to reality and start moving on from him but you, I will never tire of loving.

Rivalry: Ateneo - La Salle The Musical Round 2!

Yes, I've seen Rivalry: Ateneo - La Salle The Musical already same month last year but when I've learned that they will be running a second set of shows at the Meralco Theater on January 25-February 17, it took me a millisecond to decide that I need to see it again. If there's one thing I know, it's when Ateneo and La Salle is going to butt heads, you have to see it...even if you've already seen it.

Besides, a bunch of new faces will grace the stage this time around and one of the people behind Rivalry promised changes from the one they've shown last year so those who watched it already will still get to enjoy the second round of shows.

If you want to know what's it all about, head on over to the nearest TicketWorld outlet or call 891-9999 to reserve your tickets for one of Rivalry: Ateneo - La Salle The Musical Round 2's shows on January 25-February 17 at the Meralco Theater. Like Rivalry's Facebook page for details and updates on the upcoming shows.

Can't wait to see the show again!

Kiefer Ravena, I love you.

I am a La Sallista, yes, and I get mad at the whole Ateneo team when they beat La Salle in UAAP games but despite the annoyance, I respect one Blue Eagle's basketball skills: Kiefer Ravena. I wouldn't normally rave about how an opponent - a Blue Eagle, at that - plays but this guy is the exception. Bilib talaga ako sa basketball skills niya.

Everything changed, though, when I watched tonight's episode of Gandang Gabi Vice where he and Green Archer, Jeron Teng, guested... I think I fell in love with the guy. GRABE, PARANG SIYA YUNG IDEAL GUY KO! Why do I say so?

Well, first of all, he's ruggedly good-looking. Like, manly-man good-looking.

If you are my friend, you might want to chuckle because I know my dating resume isn't all that competent, but yeah, good-looking is still part of the requirements.

If you watch a lot of Ateneo-La Salle games both in the juniors division (2007-2010) and seniors division of the UAAP, you would know that he's an incredible basketball player.

It wouldn't even matter if you don't actually understand the technical parts of basketball. When you see him play, you'd know he's good. And yes, I am one of those girls who swoon over basketball players.

Initially, those are the only two that I found him attractive for. After that hilarious Gandang Gabi Vice episode, I've learned of two more reasons to love him:

He has "the moves".

I like a guy who can strut his stuff on the dancefloor. Okay, I'm not entirely sure if he can dance dance but he can Dougie and only a few guys can actually pull it off so it counts, right?

He plays the guitar.

I'm not really into musicians but I love it when guys (or girls... I can roll both ways) play the guitar. As I've said on Twitter, I don't even care if I don't know the song they're playing as long as they're playing the guitar, that's good enough for me.

Yeah, Kiefer Ravena definitely has most of the qualities I like in a guy. Now, if he knows how to cook real good, YUN NA.

(I am not all that much superficial. I like an honest, loving, down-to-earth, sweet and faithful guy but for the sake of this post, I am not putting the emotional crap on the list.)

That's what it's all about!

Trish and I watched the press run of Rivalry: Ateneo - La Salle The Musical last night at the Meralco Theater. Upon entering the Lopez building lobby, you could already pinpoint which ones were La Sallians and which ones were Ateneans. La Sallians just had to come in green. Not La Salle shirts or anything literal. They - which includes me - were just in green. Ateneans...well, they had this "air" to them and I think we all know what I'm talking about and no, I'm not trying to pick a fight. Let's put it this way: Atom Araullo's father (who happens to be an Atenean) said in the press con that they walk like they have apples stuck in their underarms.

Anyway, upon entering the theater, I already noticed how the set looked like and immediately thought "Sound of Music's was..." and then stopped. Tried my best to take my mind off the production of The Sound of Music - which was extravagantly done, by the way - to appreciate the minimalist approach to theater design by this musical. Got over it a few minutes before the show started. Thank you, PSI.

The show was great! I am not just saying that because I am a La Sallian. I am saying that because you'd get to see and experience how intense it is to be a part of these two communities come UAAP season, or in this play's case, the NCAA (FYI to those who don't know, La Salle and Ateneo were originally part of the NCAA).

The cast is superb! I especially like the Tommy character (naturally) because he is the La Sallian and I love his personality in the play. Plus, I love the fact that his hands are always tucked to the pockets of his jacket like that. I have this prejudice that all La Salle varsity players do this. Hee.  I don't know who exactly is the one portraying Tommy but what I do know is he's an Atenean. To be honest, he made a convincing La Sallian.

The Knoller in the red cardigan, Reena, is the lead female role and she is my high school bud, Athena. We sat next to each other during the entrance exam and since then, even if she didn't pursue studying in St. Paul, we still don't forget to add one another in all social networking platforms. She did great considering this is her first lead theater role. One of the press people even commended her performance.

Obviously, I won't spill all the details here but I'll say this: I was kinda hoping that they'd end up together but they don't.

Anyway, the second half of the play was where they spilled the beans on how the rivalry started. Was about to tell Trish "Ah, ganun pala yun..." when I saw that she was asleep. Yes, she chose to sleep that very moment when one of the characters was explaining how the feud started. Galing ng timing mo, iha.

You'd feel the school pride after the play. You can feel it from the La Sallians, the Ateneans and the Iskolars.

If you want to know "what it's all about" and why UP is suddenly mentioned here, you'd have to watch Rivalry. Here are the ticket details (available at Ticket World) once again:

I don't know how to feel going into a "Press Night" viewing. I am a writer though I don't really consider myself as "Press" but here we are! Anyway, I should be worrying more about what to wear for this occasion. Is there a dress code for Meralco Theater?

I WANT TO WATCH THIS!

This will be the most awesome dream game ever and I won't be able to watch it but would really want to! Can somebody tell me what time this is going to happen? I might just be able to work it out...

Late realization: Inuman with college friends is tentatively scheduled the same date! How can this be?! I am thankful that Brianna's birthday is jam packed with great events but how can I work this out?! Damn...

Sana ma-move 'tong dream game. Sana lang talaga.

RIVALRY: Ateneo-La Salle The Musical

A friend tagged me to this video in Facebook a couple of weeks ago:

She probably thought I'd be interested in watching it since I studied in DLSU. At first I was kinda reluctant because the way I saw it, it's gonna be something like High School Musical but with the blues and the greens instead of red. After that mean prejudice I had, I watched the YouTube video and turns out, the setting of this story will be the 60's which got me curious and asked "What the hell happened in 1968 for the play to be set in it?". I soon realized that this isn't just any power-packed basketball musical that I originally thought of. It's something much more deeper than the hardwood action. It's something every Atenean, every La Sallian and every person who got hooked to the seemingly unending battle between the two should see to understand. It might show how the rivalry really started or it might not but it doesn't matter. What matters is that we see the differences as well as the commonalities of the two rival schools and understand what the healthy competition between them is really all about.

Now, we will not see all that if we didn't watch, will we? Here are the details to the  RIVALRY: Ateneo-La Salle The Musical shows:

RIVALRY: Ateneo-La Salle The Musical  will be showing at the Meralco Theater from January 27, 2012 'til March 2012. Tickets are available at Ticketworld or you can drop me a message here if you're getting tickets from me. Ticket prices are as follows:
