OTWOL Feedback...

...from someone who didn't succeed in broadcasting.

I'm sorry. I've been an avid follower of this Nadine Lustre - James Reid serye, mostly because of James Reid's ab exposures, and I've noticed a huge dip in the quality of their output and James' half-nakedness.

I graduated with a degree in Communication Arts and have learned a thing or two when I worked freelance for TV and TV commercials upon graduation. I would want to point out some of my observations, not that they matter at all:
  1. The storytelling suddenly became sloppy. I know, I know. Taping and writing every single day can be tiring but there's a reason why ABS-CBN is paying people for this project. I hope they find a way to tell OTWOL like they did before. I'M ROOTING FOR YOU GAIZ.
  2. Continuity! Please lang po. You can check previous wardrobe and make-up from tapes from the day before. Nadine tends to suffer this one the most. She wore 2 different sets of clothes for one day - same episode pa! - kaya kitang-kita. You can ask production assistants to take note of this.
  3. Transitions have become scarce these past few weeks. I don't know why this is the case because there are a lot of scenes that the story (both its entirety and just for a single episode) can do without anyway. Why not lose those in exchange of better transitions?
  4. And speaking of transitions, the music that comes with them are not edited well, in my opinion. Plus, there are parts of specific episodes where the music is so much louder than the talkies (Tama ba ang jargons ko, classmates?).
  5. I LOVE TOLAYTS AND CLARK'S ALIPORES!
  6. But I love James Reid's abs more so please give me back my James abs time!
I am not a professional or anything. I just want you guys to succeed! Team JaDine all the way! Let's do this, team! #CertifiedOTWOLista

Watch How I Met Your Mother #TheWayYouWantIt!

I love watching TV. I decided to take up Communication Arts because I would love a job that allows me to work in TV or just to watch all the TV that I want.

I watch a whole lot of Filipino TV shows for a La Sallian and I actually enjoy them. I even get into screaming matches with the characters through our television set (I'm crazy like that). But I am not at all immune from the charm of American TV series. If anything, I talk about them here and on Twitter more than I talk about local TV shows only because I can relate to the characters of American TV shows more than I do the local TV show characters ("langit ka, lupa ako" type of situations are not really applicable to someone like me only because I'd rather not meddle with the rich and the famous...and as if they'd even notice me or anything).

My favorite TV series as of the moment has got to be How I Met Your Mother and I am quite thankful that our SKYcable DigiBox actually has 2nd Avenue and Star World where I can watch the show over and over again (even though I have the entire series up until the latest episode in my laptop AND my hard drive). This makes me wonder, though: Is there another cable channel that will allow me to catch old/new episodes of HIMYM? If so, I'd love to get it on our DigiBox. Luckily for me, SKYcable allows subscribers to add channels and packs that you like to the basic plan. So if there are other channels that air episodes of How I Met Your Mother, please please please, I beg you to tell me right away so I can add them to our current plan.

If I were given a chance, though, to watch How I Met Your Mother the way I want it, it has got to be on set and the whole production allowing interactions between me and the characters. There are a lot of times in the series that I wanted to hug the characters just to let them know that someone understands...especially Ted in the latest episode (s09e17). Oh my gosh, my feels! I just wanted to hug him, okay?! I don't even like the Ted-Robin tandem because Barnman and Robin are just ♥ but I was just so affected by one of the scenes in that episode okay!!! So, yeah, watching HIMYM on the set and allowing me to interact with them every once in a while has got to be the way I want to watch it.

If you're wondering how else you, too, can watch your favorite TV series and other cable TV shows #TheWayYouWantIt, just watch this SKYcable YouTube video:

Law of Attraction on overdrive this weekend.

This weekend has been quite 'eventful' for me but I don't think it will be possible if I don't believe in the power of the Law of Attraction. Here are some of the things that I actually "asked for" from the universe and got the past two days:
  • For the CAM105 reunion to actually push through.
  • For the Tagaytay/Enchanted Kingdom trip my family was supposed to go to that same day to be moved the next day.
  • For the night to be a little cooler than this summer-in-October weather we're having now.
  • For the storm to stop.
  • For one particular person to go.
  • For one particular person to not go.
  • For me to function well with little to no sleep (and maybe a little hungover) the next day.
  • For the day in Tagaytay and EK to be a little toned down.
  • SHAWARMA. TIMES TWO.
You should've seen the stupid grin I've been plastering my face with while I saw these being granted one by one. Of course, I have a lot more requests for those two days that wasn't granted but I'm a glass half full type of person. Plus, being thankful for what is given now is essential for your next request to be granted. That's just how God and the universe works.

To my friends (and those who follow me on Twitter), I know I keep on yapping about the Law of Attraction but I just am amazed by how powerful it is.

I have great college buddies.

These YouTube videos are taken from Jason Lopez' YouTube channel.

Thanks to Niko, Icka and Marcia for reminding the whole Twitter world that (one of) these videos exist online. I hope there are more videos from college online like the roller coaster sa Amphi footage we had where Jason scraped his elbow.

Communication Arts...

My dad and I were talking about the Martial Law on our way home from Patrizia's birthday dinner at Somethin' Fishy, Eastwood (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BUDING!). He was telling me how their life was during those times.

Obviously, it was hard but it was especially hard for their family since his dad, my lolo, was a journalist then. He was then part of the journalists who wrote as ghost writers against Ferdinand Marcos so he got death threats everyday and was stabbed twice on duty. He got bodyguards for the family and for himself. My dad and my titas were escorted on their way to school and the bodyguards would stay there 'til classes were finished and escort them back home. The same goes with my lolo and lola. Even our house in Sucat had bodyguards then.

I asked him how my lola reacted then, knowing her husband's life was always on the line. He said that my lola was almost always with the journalists so the fear was nothing to her.

We would always talk about this. He's a frustrated journalist himself. I'm a Communication Arts graduate who's thinking of going into broadcasting. He idolizes his dad so much, I can hear it in his voice. The way he talks about him and puts him on the pedestal. Plus, the look on his face when he talks about his dad. It's so visible on his face, you could literally record it.

Anyway, I really didn't know the reason behind my taking the college degree I took. I knew that I wanted to take it up because I wanted to touch people's lives and at the same time, I wanted to make change. But to be honest, the thrill and the spontaneity the job entails and the love for adventure probably pulled me towards this direction, too. The story about my grandfather in the Martial Law era adds up to the mix. Whatever had the biggest influence on me, I don't know up to now.

I honestly want to be a part of those journalists who wrote about the real deal during the Marcos regime. It would be awesome.
