The Chito Miranda x Rico Blanco Collaboration

I'm not really a fan of alternative music or any music that includes guitar riffs or drum solos but the OPM scene has always been an exception. Okay, maybe the OPM scene back in the 90s and a very few songs released in the past decade. I just can't stand all the "Neseye ne eng lehet..." and "Boom karakaraka" that have been playing in almost every radio station I (don't) listen to and every music store I enter. I'm not hating on Daniel Padilla and Vice Ganda or anything. I mean, if you follow me on Twitter, you'd know how I get kilig over Daniel Padilla and the way he looks at Kathryn Bernardo whenever they're on TV and how I am a huge fan of GGV. It's just that they don't make Pinoy songs the way they used to...


Enter Chito Miranda and Rico Blanco. They've been exchanging tweets about hanging out in Rico's place, cooking up something, but disguising it as "trip-trip lang", nothing to get excited over but I know I am not the only one who thought "Yeah, right, wala lang" because they're friggin' Chito Miranda and Rico Blanco! What's so "wala lang" about them, right? I KNOW.
So anyway, here's the "trip-trip lang" track they were talking about:

It's called Panahon Na Naman ng Harana and it's some sort of a mash-up of Harana and Panahon Na Naman - obviously - but there's nothing "trip-trip lang" about it. I mean, like I said, they're friggin' Chito Miranda and Rico Blanco!

I really love Moonstar88's Migraine. I love those three lines especially because they capture everything that I want to ask two guys in (?) my life right now but the questions, of course, are of different context.

Anyway, the whole song, I want to ask one of the two guys. Go figure.

I was browsing through my Facebook feed this morning when I stumbled upon Rico Blanco's Facebook fan page and saw this song on the page's wall:


I honestly didn't listen to the song when he released it last year and now that I've heard and understood the song, I can't believe I waited this long to listen to it. Okay, maybe the whole Fiesto Bandido persona scared me and I love, love, love the Your Universe album that I don't want anything to ruin that Rico Blanco for me but because of this song, I am giving Galactik Fiestamatik a chance.
Obvious naman diba ang amats ko sa'yo kakaiba...

Suntok sa Buwan is THE song, okay?

I know I said here that Akap is THE song but I stand corrected. It's Session Road's Suntok sa Buwan! Every damn word in the song is perfect to what I am going through right now. Ugh! How can I not have this in my laptop?! If I didn't have that random LSS today, I wouldn't have realized that it's THE song and I wouldn't have known that I don't have a copy of it.
Hindi ko 'to gusto pero wag kang lalayo... Ka-ka-ka-kaboom!

No, this song isn't for someone...at least at first it wasn't.

Okay, I loved this song the first time I heard it years ago and I admit, I didn't actually understand what the song meant then. I just thought the melody's sweet and Ronnie Liang's voice sounds nice here, compared to the other songs I've heard him sing in Pinoy Dream Academy. I searched for the lyrics just a few minutes ago and realized what the song actually meant. Nakakatawa. The first verse and refrain goes: Minamasdan kita Nang hindi mo alam Pinapangarap kong ikaw ay akin Mapupulang labi At matingkad mong ngiti Umaabot hanggang sa langit Huwag ka lang titingin sa akin At baka matunaw ang puso kong sabik How funny is that? I've thought of one person after reading the lyrics of the song and it made me chuckle. If I were in college, I bet this would've been my song for him.

Confusion is nothing new.

If you know me, you will know that I am not that much into music. I listen to HipHop, RnB, Slow Jams, yes, but a part of me doesn't really consider that music. No offense meant to those people who work around that musical genre but whenever I hear the word "music", those are not the genres that pop into my head.

Anyway, just this morning, I woke up to the thought of "I should get a copy of Imago's old album as well as Moonstar 88's." I don't know where that thought came from but now that it's there, I would love to make a list of OPM artists/bands' albums I would love to get my hands on:

1. The whole discography of Imago
2. The whole discography of Moonstar 88
3. The whole discography of Rivermaya
4. The whole discography of Eraserheads
5. The whole discography of Up Dharma Down
6. The whole discography of Mojofly

Looking at my list now, I don't think I have a diverse taste in music. They all sound alike.

Would also love to get my hands on the whole Tunog Acoustic collection and any album that has Barbie Almalbis in it and those tribute albums that have been coming out though I already have Ultraelectromagneticjam!: The Music of the Eraserheads.

I am officially freaking myself out.
